La Roux's mum IS June from The Bill!
After having a debate with my friend Umar a few days ago as to what parents singer/songwriter La Roux was spawned, it all became clear yesterday whilst working on a radio outside broadcast in Leeds.
Phil, who works on the Lamacq team on BBC 6 Music, posted me a link to an NME blog which contained some rather insightful information.
To be honest, I thought it was a wind-up after seeing it on Wikipedia last week (with no link), so I was very quick off the mark in changing her entry to be the "daughter of Strictly Come Dancing presenter Bruce Forsyth" - sadly some Wiki moderator deleted the whole sentence, and my fun was short-lived.
Still, it fooled Umar, who now knows the truth. We'll be finding out that Ladyhawke is the daughter of Coronation Street's Ken and Deidre next. And if I've got anything to do with it, Wikipedia will be proclaiming that blood tie sooner rather than later. MMm, mischief!
EMI Vs Alphabeat
Drunkenly stumbling across an almost-empty dancefloor at the post-Brits Adidas 60th Birthday party the other night, I got talking to the lovely Stine Bramsen of Alphabeat. Trying really hard not to go into interview mode - after about seven jugs of cocktails - I asked her about their future plans...
Needless to say, she was less than pleased with EMI, the label they released their European debut This Is Alphabeat with. She claimed it was due to the label having a lack of money, but reports towards the end of last year on various muso websites claimed they'd been dropped (along with the Mystery Jets). She started fiddling with her phone at this point, so I introduced her to a friend from Global (Radio) and scuttled off to the bar.
They broke the top ten in the UK last year with their debut, and were received pretty well on the club circuit - singles like 'Fascination' and '10,000 Nights' weren't exactly cult hits; they received a massive amount of airplay for a fairly new entry to Britain. I would write a stern letter to EMI, but that would take time and probably mean I'd be crossed off their Christmas card list. So I won't bother.
Anyway, that's about it. Apart from the fact that I joined Twitter. I'm under the impression that people only really use it to show off about how fantastic their lives are. If that's the case I'm sure I'll fit right in.
Tootle pip x
Six times eight is.
Can somebody help me with this?!
