2008's End of the Road festival meets high acclaim
The End of the Road festival has received some glowing reports from many highly-respected commentators this year:
Like falling down Alice's rabbit hole to a place where rock'n'roll has magical power.” (Independent 5/5)
“Spark and colour were everywhere. The little touches made this tiny festival glorious.” (Guardian 4/5)
“The most mellow and uplifting fresh-air festival on the calendar.” (Uncut)
“Should be the template for any festival and festival goers should expect nothing less.” (BBC 6 Music Online)
“At the close of the most crowded summer yet for music festivals, the aptly named End of the Road still managed to cut a distinct dash.” (The Times 4/5)
“End of the Road is ace.” (The Fly)
“The lineup is one of the best of the summer, the site perhaps the most beautiful.” (The Quietus)
Said organisers Simon and Sofia, in a mailout to all who attended: “Thank you for making our festival so amazing again this year, we felt blessed with the weather and so many smiley faces despite a bit of mud etc. “And all the bands were fantastic, whether on stage or off stage, walking around the site or playing impromptu sets.”
Early Bird Tickets are on sale right now for End of the Road Festival 2009, which has been confirmed for the weekend of 11 - 13 September.
They can be purchased through the festival website, with adult and youth (13-16) Early Birds priced at £90 including booking fee. Child tickets are not available as part of the Early Bird tickets, but will be on sale to Early Birders when the tickets go on general sale. Price TBC.
In the meantime there will be a Christmas party on 18th December at Cargo, while Woodpigeon, whose EOTR performance saw Uncut describe them as "like Arcade Fire without the triumphalism", release their album Songbook on End of the Road Records on Monday 29th September.
