Wickerman nominated for five UK Festival Awards

Scotland’s best known family-friendly music event The Wickerman has received five nominations for the prestigious UK Festival Awards.

The Solway Coast’s annual movie-themed frolic is up for Best Medium Sized, Best Toilets, Best Line-up, Best Grass Roots and Best Family Friendly Festival.

The awards are decided by the music loving public and fans are logging on online to cast their votes. Closing date for awards nominations and votes is the 13th October.

Wickerman Artistic Director Sid Ambrose said “We walked away with the Best Grass Roots gong in 2007 and have high hopes of flying the flag for Scotland again in 2008”.

He further added “The UK Festival Awards set the standards for the UK Festival industry and the voting process allows the general public to influence the way future events are organised”.

The Festival Awards will take place at a star-studded, drama-packed ceremony in London’s O2 Indigo Arena on Thursday the 30th October.
