The Daily Music Guide's John Russell chats with up-and-coming folk musician Frank Hamilton about the release of his debut EP, his career to date, and what's ahead for the band.

Sheltering ourselves from the bustling crowd that's already gathered itself inside the venue, we make our way to what's effectively Frank's own personal tour bus: a small red hand-me-down car, apparently once belonging to his brother.

Hamilton explains how it all started for him, his achievements to date, and what's most important in his life. Evidently not money, stardom, or media attention: he's motivated solely by his music.

With plays across the national radio networks, the release of his debut EP You, Your Cat and Me on the horizon, and plans in-the-making for a very busy few months ahead, the folk singer talks of humble beginnings back in his hometown of St Ives, Cambridge, and an unpredictable rise from a scene that didn't really exist.

There's something very real about Frank Hamilton.

As we bring the interview to a close and make our way back indoors, I have no doubt in my mind that the Guildford lad's on his way to bigger and much better things.

If you get the chance to attend one of the band's gigs, don't let it pass you by. Because chances are you'll end up regretting it.
