See You Next Tuesday
Formed in the heart of Bay City, Michigan, in 2005, it's not every day you meet an experimental deathcore band like See You Next Tuesday. Currently signed to Independent label Ferret records, their new album -their fourth official release and second studio album - Intervals is set for release on Oct 21st of this year.
DMG - I heard you guys formed as the result of a joke, but then when your music started getting more attention, you made the decision to keep performing. Is this true?
SYNT - Yes. Totally true actually. The band started with a bunch of
dudes that didn't play their respective instruments. For example, we had a guitar player playing drums and whatnot. Just started the band to have
a bit of fun.
DMG - What would be your main musical influences?
SYNT - That is perhaps the hardest question to ever answer. Everyone in the band listens to different kinds of music which is, for the most part, nothing like the band sounds at all. Which I guess is the best way to get inspiration on how to write. Simply listen to a bunch of tunes that sounds nothing like the music you are trying to create.
DMG - To someone whose never heard your music before how would you describe it?
SYNT - Fast! But also slow, and sometimes, even a little mid tempo.
DMG - On your first studio album Parasite all the album titles were obscure quotes from well known movies. Who came up with this idea, and while we are on the subject, what's some of your favourite films?
SYNT - The title thing was just a general band effort. That was generally a collection of stupidity by the band. As for favourite films, I would have to say, Wayne's World, Mallrats, Tommy Boy and of course Robocop.
DMG - With lead vocalist Bear now having departed, do you see your musical direction changing, or having stayed the same?
SYNT - Well Bear has been gone for a long time now and our musical direction has changed in a big way already. But I don't see it as having had anything to do with Bears departure.
DMG - Who would win in a fight between yourselves and label mates Every Time I Die?
SYNT - Every Time I Die hands down. They have Andy Williams! Have you seen that mans beard. Plus, as it happens, we are all pussies!
DMG - Any funny stories from out on the road?
SYNT - Not really, we're kind of really boring most of the time. Generally, a better portion of the bands gets drunk at every show, then sleeps all day. We are all fat though, and eat a lot of food.
DMG - What do you want people to take from your new record?
SYNT - Well, with the new album we finally wrote a record as a whole, so ultimately we are just stoked for people to hear it. Regardless of what they think about it. We took a very different approach to writing songs, and even the style of the band. Basically, I am trying to say that we are a lot more serious with our music, but seriously, we still love to party!
DMG - Any plans to tour Europe in the near future?
SYNT - Yes Indeed! We are just about to announce a tour of Europe in Jan/Feb 2009 so keep checking our website.
DMG - Thanks Guys, any parting comments?
SYNT - Please buy the new album, it's out on Oct 14th, and it's going to be great. Also our merch guy has the clap, but we still love him, so it's ok.
Intervals is released on Oct 21st 2008
