Alphabeat inspired by lesbian film

The Danish pop collective said their new single ‘Boyfriend’ was about loving a partner, irrespective of what other people think about them.

"It's actually inspired by a Swedish film about two lesbians," singer Anders SG told DS.

"They're teenagers and it's a story about them discovering love and how they feel about other girls. In school, they get teased by the other kids and then they decide, 'F**k everyone, we're going to do this. We don't care what you think'."

He continued: "That's what the songs about - not caring what other people think about your boyfriend or girlfriend."

Anders also revealed that the band are already working on their second album, which they hope to begin recording in early 2009.

"It's a lot better for us to work on the songs all the time and keep making small changes to them," he said.

"We probably won't start recording properly for half a year yet, but in that time we can get started and have a good impression of what we want the album to sound like."
