Doherty to play Royal Albert Hall

Pete Doherty has announced plans to play his biggest ever solo show, appearing at the Royal Albert Hall later this year.

The Babyshambles star is currently on a UK tour with the band. However, he will take to the stage alone for the April date, which is expected to feature tracks from his forthcoming debut solo album.

The gig takes place on 26th of April and is sure to prompt speculation of special guests after 28-year-old Doherty was reunited with Carl Barat at the Hackney Empire last year.

The Babyshambles frontman will play the biggest show of his career at the prestigious venue, which has a capacity of more than 5,500.

Tickets for the Royal Albert Hall go on-sale on Friday 15th February.

A friend of Doherty’s told the Daily Star: “It’s a total turnaround. He was down on his luck and struggling for cash but hopefully those days are behind him now.

“He knows this is make or break. He’s cancelled gigs in the past but he’s got to be on top form for this one.”The Who, Bob Dylan, Crowded House, Nick Cave and Morrissey are among previous acts to have taken to the stage at the Royal Albert Hall."

Last November Doherty admitted to suffering a drug relapse, and pledged to seek further help in his attempts to tackle heroin addiction.

Babyshambles bandmate Drew McConnell recently insisted that other band members are not worried about Doherty's solo career.
