Pete asked to save football club

Doherty had been invited by the club to visit next week when he will be in nearby Cologne for a concert. A German football team has appealed to Pete Doherty to come to their rescue from financial ruin.

KFC Uerdingen would like the Babyshambles star to make a guest appearance at their stadium, to raise funds for the ailing club.

Doherty, who spent some of his childhood at an army base in the city of Krefeldas, supports the minor league team alongside local club QPR.

According to reports, the former Libertines singer has said he hopes to visit the Uerdingen ground on his upcoming European tour dates.

Meanwhile, Babyshambles played a surprise, one-off concert in the Wiltshire countryside on Friday night, to just 40 people. Doherty performed a string of hits at The Sun Inn in Marlborough, kicking-off just after closing time.
