Unsigned bands to perform at Glastonbury 2010

Glastonbury In an attempt to uncover the country's best unsigned acts, Glastonbury Festival, along with Q Magazine, are once again offering bands a chance to perform on one of the Festival's main stages.

In the past the annual Emerging Talent Competition has helped bands such as The Subways, Golden Silvers, Scouting For Girls, Stornorway and We Have Band cement their standing in the UK music scene.

The competition will be judged by a panel of music experts who will then pick 11 of the 12 finalists. Ten runners-up will then face a public vote for the coveted 12th spot.

This year's panel includes festival organisers Michael and Emily Eavis, BBC Radio 1's Huw Stephens and Q Magazine editor, Paul Rees.

To enter, bands and performers must not be signed to a major label and should be based in the UK or Ireland. Acts should upload two of their tracks to the competition website, which is open from 16th November 2009 until 25th January 2010. The live finals will be held at the end of March 2010.

Glastonbury Festival 2010 runs from Wednesday 23rd - Sunday 27th June. Tickets for the festival's 40th anniversary, which will see Irish rockers U2 headlining, are now sold out.
