Does It Offend You, Yeah? - Dawn of the Dead (Virgin Records)
The usual sounds associated with Does It Offend You, Yeah? might conjure up a fluorescent image of grinding rhythms and far-out twisted sounds, whereas newest release 'Dawn Of The Dead' is quite the opposite.
The band have experimented with a slower tune but have not compromised their unique sound which is obvious all the way through the track.
In comparison to their earlier tracks, 'Dawn of the Dead' doesn't quite deliver the sensation of head banging your way through the night. It's much more of a Sunday afternoon chillout session with your friends. Nonetheless, they've managed to differ themselves from hundreds of other indie bands by sticking to their guns with a good electro influence and not just strumming a guitar from start to end.
The lyrics on 'Dawn Of The Dead' aren't exactly heartfelt, but this comes as no surprise. The Does It Offend You, Yeah? boys seem to have more of a passion towards the music, rather than focusing their creativity on lyrics, which is apparent throughout their discography.
Taken from their new album You Have No Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into, one might ask if 'Dawn Of The Dead' is just another tune to help pad out the album and give it some extra flexibility. It's probably not their finest release since they burst onto the music scene, but it could be just what they need to get themselves recognised across the bustling and competitive indie genre of today.
