Enter Shikari - Leas Cliff Hall (31/10/2008)
With the stage bedecked in creepy cobwebs and ghost cut-outs, openers An Albatross all the way from Pennsylvania started off proceedings with little more than a noise soup. Strained screamo vocals marred by a foggy sound system made An Albatross' set a disappointing start to the evening.
Japanese metal band Maximum the Hormone took to the stage next, firing up the crowd with their groove laden tunes and churning riffs, providing a proper start to the evening. The fact that all the songs were sung in Japanese made little difference to the now large crowd gathered, as several circle pits broke out throughout the night.
Acting as a warm up for the main act DJ Pdex, brother of Enter Shikari guitarist Chris Batten laid down a half-hour barrage of the finest hip-hop and drum 'n' bass tunes, getting the whole audience dancing like possessed madmen.
As the lights went down for the final time, the loudest cheer of the evening screamed forth from the crowd as Enter Shikari finally took up their instruments, dressed in full suits, each wearing a different Halloween mask.
Front man 'Rou' Reynolds flew across the stage for opener 'The Feast', stage diving into the crowd during 'No Sssweat' and leaping like a man possessed during classic track 'Return To Energizer'. Crowd favourites 'Sorry You're Not A Winner' and 'Labyrinth' set the venue ablaze in between new tracks 'Hectic' and 'Step Up', while the highlight of the evening was without doubt the flashing light, dry ice-a-thon encore 'Ok, Time For Plan B', sending the band's energy burning into the cosmos. As the final notes of their final song 'Enter Shikari' rang out, not a single person left without a grin on their face, or a bruise on their body.
