Grime stalwart Lethal Bizzle, like many luminaries of the genre, has been broadening his musical horizons on recent releases. 'Back To Bizznizz' dabbled with indie, reggae and punk samplings amongst others, and Bizzle himself has admitted that the grime scene quickly sucks in its proponents unless they learn to encompass new stylings sharpish.
Following in the golden footsteps of Dizzee Rascal, Lethal B releases this party anthem from latest album Go Hard. The scattergun beats are reminiscent of Armand Van Helden's mind-bending bass-lines in 'Bonkers', while the repeated chorus line is embellished with a sprinkling of variations.
Lyrics like: "What a nice bumper I'm gonna squeeze/I'm a rude boy but I'm not being rude/I apologise for not saying please" remind you of Bizzle's prowess in the grime arena, combining topical urban issues with dexterous wit. Despite utilising the laughable urban custom of bigging yourself up on your own tracks, it's clear that Bizzle does not take himself too seriously.
From a rapper whose back-catalogue includes political tracks as incendiary as 'Babylon Is Burning The Ghetto', this single is slightly more superficial and lightweight, but should go down a storm at festivals and dance clubs alike. Onward Myspace soldiers!
