Your driving your MG Midget convertible through the country roads of the Pennines, the sun is glazing the windscreen with the wind blowing your knitted scarf over your shoulder.

The pretty blonde in the passenger sit looks at you with adoration in her eyes and the sound of The Last Shadow Puppets latest offering is ringing in your ears, welcome to 1967, or maybe 2008!

The second single from the monkey-rascal supergroup is a complete summer sixties strum-a-long direct from the mind of a classic Scott Walker emotional ballad.

As a track it will turn many off, it can feel a little self-satisfying. Such an obvious rip-off of Turner and Kane’s influences and heroes you do feel like you’ve heard it before.

To others however it will feel fresh and new. Songs aren’t constructed like this anymore, the tempo is spot on. The vocals of both chaps merge brilliantly and its tune is almost hypnotic.

For brilliance and originality Mr Turner will not outdo the Monkeys but as a side project it is getting his retro tendencies out of his system, and doing a good job about it.

So if you want to time-travel back to the summer of love, and enjoy a old school English road trip, this is the song to do it to. But don’t get too carried away because the petrol is much more expensive these days!
