Sean Kingston - Fire Burning (Beluga Heights/Epic Records)

It has been two years since Sean Kingston's last big hit 'Beautiful Girls', but not much seems to have changed for him; it's still all about the ladies. If you weren't 'su-i-cidal' after the constant radio play of the last song, then you will be after a summer full of this.

More upbeat than his last single, Sean has branched out into the already well chartered world of trashy dancehall pop. Think of Sean Paul in the body of Biggie Smalls, minus the talent, and you've got a fair approximation of new single 'Fire Burning'. Distorted vocals give the impression that he's listened to 'California Love' one too many times and now thinks he's 2Pac.

Misogynistic, tinny, pop sludge is generally unpleasant yet negligible, but the problem with this track is the bass. He has cursed us with a deep, thumping, highly addictive bassline that will keep people dancing and pumping their hands in the air for many months. Even as you curse his name under your breath, your toes seem to have different ideas and happily tap away more fervently than Fred Astaire.

Whatever may be said about the quality of Sean Kingston's music, he seems to have found the formula for annoyingly catchy tunes. Like it or not, this single will end up being the soundtrack to all our summers.
