Those Dancing Days – Run Run (Wichita)

Following on from the popularity of their glorious self-titled debut EP, not to mention their last single 'Hitten', melodic Swedes Those Dancing Days have returned with another breezy slice of well-crafted electro pop.

The song's intro sees synths and guitars rebounded off one another to create a frantic build-up of noise before the arrival of Linnea Jönsson's ever-sultry vocals. Despite the relatively quick pace of her delivery, her voice has a somewhat languid charm about it, and it's a style which, as well as being easy on the ear, effortlessly draws you in to what's being said, however simple the lyrical content.

As for the chorus, it has TDD bringing their typically uplifting group harmonies to the table, all contributing wonderfully to the chiming, sun-tinged wall of sound behind Jönsson's descriptions of the large skies above. In isolation, the guitar riffs bring to mind the likes of Vampire Weekend and Larrikin Love, but when forming part of this song structure they complement the percussion and keys superbly.

Although the single's B-side 'Home Sweet Home' is slightly forgettable (chorus aside) in comparison to the lead track, its heady combination of lo-fi punk and sped-up calypso-style rhythms still illustrates the Stockholm quintet's sonic diversity and range rather effectively.

Overall, this is definitely a release to be checked out, and it's certainly feasible that, as the next few weeks go by, 'Run Run' will go down a storm as Those Dancing Days begin to benefit from being a part of the festival circuit, making friends and influencing people on an exciting scale wherever they go.
