Memories, oh memories, of what life was like before you had a frontal lobotomy performed entirely through the medium of music. Sadly, after listening to David Guetta's new single, your brain will be too numb to even remember what that was like. Yes ladies and gentleman, to say that this single is uninspired would be kind.
From the moment the syncopated piano chords and thump bass begin, you may start to lose the will to live. Repetition can, in the right hands, be innovative and create layers that play on variants to pick out the beauty of minutiae; unfortunately, here, this is not the case.
Instead, you get the feeling that David Guetta and Kid Cudi are just being sloppy and lazy. Rather than innovating, they're relying on the loop system to stretch an unremarkable few bars into an even more unremarkable two and a half minute song.
Nothing in this track even puts up a fight against mediocrity; instead it staggers along like a crippled donkey waiting to be put out of its misery. Formulaic in its construction, the end product is no richer than the sum of its composite parts and so it simply falls apart without a real hook to hold it together. Despite including various remixes, none of them manage to inject any more life into this lumbering old beast.
