Red Track - Wait Around (Northern Blue Ltd)

Since forming in 2006, these guys have gained themselves quite the fanbase, and it isn't hard to see why. After purchasing this EP and embracing the all important first listen, you are instantly bombarded with this disgustingly catchy guitar riff. It's very simple but definitely effective, and as a result gets you interested immediately.

Opening track 'Wait Around' keeps this similar style as the track goes on,. The lyrics aren't bad, but they're not great either. The flaw of this song is the chorus; the transition from the fun sounding verse to a messy chorus is annoying, if anything, because if sorted the song would be so much better.

'Miss You Not', however, makes up for the chorus in the opening track; short but sweet with a nice catchy chorus, and equally nice sounding verses. 'Stuck In This Town' is also relatively simple, nice on the ears with a decent structure.

The EP brings closure with 'Can't Be Arsed', which is probably the best song thus far. The variation and structure makes up for previous repetitiveness; the song proves what they are capable of - it's this we should hear more of if future efforts are to prove popular with the masses.

The sound of Red Track seems to be attempting a new Arctic Monkeys/Kooks kind of sound, which is the problem with the EP, because they are simply not yet as good as the aforementioned groups. However, the EP does leave you with the feeling that Red Track have a lot more to offer. The EP is definitely worth a listen, and there is definitely better to come from these lads in the future.
