David Guetta ft. Fergie & LMFAO - Gettin' Over You (Virgin)

'Gettin' Over You' follows on from the success of 'Sexy Bitch', quite possibly the most chauvinistically contradictory pop song ever recorded. Taking over from Akon who supplied the delicate lyrics on 'Sexy Bitch' are Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas and LMFAO. 'Gettin' Over You' is essentially a remix of 'I Gotta Feeling' by Fergie's principal employers, and as David Guetta produced that song it may be his right to do so.
The resulting track is like when sitcoms run out of ideas mid season and make a compilation show. With the source material not being that good in the first place there is not much any of the collaborators can do here. The original riff sounds like it's been re-recorded on a child's keyboard, and it's instantly drowned out the minute the overly harsh and intrusive beats kick in. Fergie always has a habit of introducing random vowels to the beginning of every line she sings. She and duo LMFAO fail to raise a smile.
What is most surprising about this quite awful summer anthem is that it comes from the same stock as one of the best: 'Acapella' (sic). Guetta produced this track, which is melodic and subtle; it's everything 'Gettin' Over You' isn't.
