She and Him - In the Sun (Double Six Records)

Zooey Deschanel, the blonde one from Elf, has been paddling in the pond of pop since 2008 with co-pilot Matt Ward who makes up the 'him' part. Now your first instinct might be to condemn her like the rest of the drama-school mob who'd be better off in a Glee episode but wait, you would be exceptionally foolish to do so.
'In the Sun', the first single from She & Him's second album Volume 2, is what one might call a musical treat. This band feels like The Formats (RIP) little sister with their sweet melodic way of floating through a song coupled with quirky poppy lyrics and piano licks.
There is no getting away from the sheer heart-stopping beauty of Zooey Deschanel's voice. It's sexy without trying, at times it's even lazy. But it still keeps you hooked from start to finish. The way Deshanel sings "my baby, my darling" is almost as adorable as Beth from The Gossip's little giggle in 'Heavy Cross'. Just try and dislike this song.
